Panama Bunker Sales Rise Again
Panama’s bunker sales saw another month of year-on-year growth in February, according to the latest data from the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP).
Sales for products in February totalled 424,677 metric tonnes (MT), compared to 401,232 mt sold for the month in 2017.

Panama Project Opens Americas Market to Mechan
Mechan is growing its international export business with the first ever order planned for delivery to the Americas.
The Sheffield-based manufacturer is supplying heavy lifting equipment to the Panama City Metro, as part of a major project to construct a second line in the republic’s capital.
Mechan is working with parent company CIM Group to deliver a set of 20 12-tonne lifting jacks, four turntables and 40 vehicle stands to a new build depot in the Nuevo Tocumen area of Panama City. The equipment is about to leave the UK after successful factory acceptance tests.

Panama Canal Consolidates its Strategic Position in the Transportation of Liquefied Natural Gas.
The Panama Canal welcomed the inaugural transit of the LNG Sakura as it carried the first-ever liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipment from the Dominion Cove Point terminal in the United States to Japan.
The transit, which occurred this past weekend, marks the beginning of a new LNG commercial route between the United States and Asia from the recently inaugurated Dominion Cove Point terminal in Maryland, the second U.S. LNG export terminal to come online after Sabine Pass began operations in 2016.
